Has it felt like the world has gone dark over the last seven years? Well, there might be an explanation for that. Nancy Meyers, the filmmaker behind some of the most beloved comedies ever, has been absent since 2015’s The Intern. But she’s back, courtesy of, who else, Netflix, with a brand new comedy.
Deadline reports Meyers will write, direct, and produce a new ensemble comedy for Netflix. No other details are available, but if I had my guess the cast will be white, affluent, and desperate to find someone to love them.
Meyers’ most recent work was that Father of the Bride Part 3-ish short film that she did in 2020, reuniting much of the original comedy’s cast. It was also with Netflix, albeit only on social media. Talk of a genuine feature-length sequel has been in the wind for years. Instead, a Latinx reboot will open later this year.
