‘Ironheart’: Marvel’s Disney+ Series Adds ‘Dear White People’ And ‘Atlanta’ Filmmakers

The MCU has a new armor-clad genius on the way. Ironheart is the upcoming Disney+ series featuring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a young Black girl whose intellect rivals that of Tony Stark. The series is one of many coming to the network, and with head writer Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler involved, the anticipation is sky-high.

According to Variety, Ironheart will have Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes as directors, dividing the six-episode series in half. Bailey is known for his work on Netflix’s Dear White People, while Barnes has worked on Atlanta and Blindspotting.

It’s rumored that Riri Williams will make her debut as part of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Joining Thorne in the cast are In the Heights star Anthony Ramos and This is Us actor Lyric Ross. Their roles, however, have yet to be confirmed. We’re bound to hear more about Ironheart at D23 later this year.
