Leave it to the folks at A24 to put a different spin on the self-contained, single-location thriller, a genre we’ve seen quite a lot of during the pandemic. Bodies Bodies Bodies has been one of the buzziest titles to emerge from SXSW, with its Gen Z-skewering satire and cast that includes Amandla Stenberg, Pete Davidson, Shiva Baby breakout Rachel Sennott, and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova.
Marking the English-language directorial debut of Dutch actress/filmmaker Halina Reijn (Instinct), Bodies Bodies Bodies rips into phony friendships, bored, spoiled rich kids, and more.
SYNOPSIS: When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game goes awry in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.
Also starring Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, and Lee Pace with an original track by Charli XCX, Bodies Bodies Bodies opens August 5th.
