Steven Spielberg’s Semi-Autobiographical ‘The Fabelmans’ Adds David Lynch To Its Cast

Steven Spielberg is having a bit of fun with the casting of his upcoming film, The Fabelmans. Joining a cast that already includes Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Gabriel LaBelle, and Julia Butters is director David Lynch. It’s not often that he gets in front of the camera, but when he does it’s usually to do something weird. Can’t wait.

According to Variety, Lynch’s role is a “closely guarded secret”, which is pretty interesting. What, is he like a crazy uncle or something? We know the film is semi-autobiographical in nature, based in part on Spielberg’s childhood in Arizona. Spielberg not only directs but co-writes with West Side Story and Lincoln writer Tony Kushner.

Best guess? Lynch is playing someone well-known, like maybe a filmmaker that Spielberg looked up to?

The Fabelmans opens on November 23rd.
