Henry Cavill Reportedly Not Under Contract To Appear As Superman In Any DCEU Film

With different Superman projects in the works for Michael B. Jordan and JJ Abrams, you’d think we’d hear something about the status of Henry Cavill. He hasn’t played the Man of Steel since Justice League, and while reports have differed on his possible return, nothing is confirmed. One rumor had Cavill popping up in The Flash, but according to an update from Umberto Gonzalez of TheWrap, that’s not happening for a very good reason.

According to Gonzalez, Cavill isn’t under contract to appear as Superman in anything.

We probably shouldn’t be surprised by this. Cavill had been pegged for an appearance in Shazam: Fury of the Gods, following up on the tease at the first movie’s conclusion. That fell through, however, and we’ve heard little about Cavill being used anywhere. Even if there were more appearances left on his contract it doesn’t mean WB has to cast him, and it seems they are happy to let others play Superman.
