Paul Feig To Direct Netflix’s ‘The School For Good And Evil’ Adaptation

Paul Feig is going from his holiday fantasy Last Christmas, to YA fairytale fantasy with The School for Good and Evil. THR reports Feig will direct Netflix’s adaptation of Soman Chainani’s book, which spawned six sequels. Universal had acquired the rights to adapt them back in 2014.

The School for Good and Evil centers on best friends Sophie and Agatha, attendees at an enchanted institution where they are trained to become fairy tale heroes or villains. Sophie hopes to become a princess and live happily ever after like Snow White and Cinderella, while the moody Agatha is primed to join the side of evil. But their friendship is tested when they are sent to the opposite schools.

Writing the script will be David Magee (Life of Pi) and Laura Solon (Let it Snow). No word on a release date yet, but here’s what Feig had to say about this latest project, something of a change of pace for him…

“I’m truly excited to bring this amazing, touching, funny and empowering world that Soman created in his wonderful books to life. I feel like a frog that just turned into a prince.”
