Warner Bros. tried a wait-and-see approach to Wonder Woman 1984‘s release date in June, but ultimately decided to push it back a couple of months to August 14th. That immediately makes it one of the biggest releases of the late summer…assuming the date holds, which is still very much in doubt. Who knows if the industry will be back to normal by then? In the meantime, a new poster wants to remind you of the colorful superhero sequel we’re all in for when theaters finally reopen.
The new Wonder Woman 1984 poster is very much like some we’ve seen previously. It’s very vibrant, pastel-colored, and very ’80s, as it should be. This is a smart, targeted campaign that’s being run and I think when theaters reopen we are going to see crowds race to see Diana (Gal Gadot) in a retro world of big hair-helmeted villains (like Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord and Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah), track suits (like the one Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor sports), and MTV.
Check out Gadot’s reveal of the motion poster along with a few heartfelt words to accompany it.
In these dark and scary times, I am looking forward to a brighter future ahead. Where we can share the power of cinema together again. Excited to redate our WW84 film to August 14, 2020. I hope everyone is safe. Sending my love to you all. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/nzPUM7uQ1n
