K-Pop superstar Eric Nam stars with Bill Camp in Transplant, a psychological thriller produced by Forest Whitaker and directed by Jason Park in his feature debut. The film also stars Michelle Okkyung Lee, April Grace, and Adam Arkin. I remember this playing at the Virginia Film Festival a couple of years ago, and it’s finally due to hit theaters on November 20th through Vertical.
Nam makes his feature acting debut as an ambitious surgical resident, whose obsession to be the best comes at a heavy price. Camp, a two-time Emmy nominee, plays the renowned heart surgeon who takes him under his wing but demands complete loyalty in return.
SYNOPSIS: Jonah Yoon (Eric Nam) is a driven surgical resident determined to become a top surgeon, but his ambition pushes him to dangerous extremes. Under the tutelage of renowned heart transplant surgeon Dr. Edward Harmon (Bill Camp), Jonah learns that success comes at a price: absolute loyalty and subservience. When his mother’s (Michelle Okkyung Lee) health deteriorates, Jonah must choose between his duty as a son and the career his family sacrificed to help him achieve.
Transplant comes at a busy time for Nam, who is also voicing the title role in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Coming up next year is a lead role in the coming-of-age musical K-Pop: The Debut alongside KPop Demon Hunters and Freaky Tales star Ji-young Yoo.
