“The question isn’t ‘Are you prepared to die?’ The question is “Who will you be when you close your eyes?”
The X-Men have finally arrived in the MCU, and things are looking bleak!! Leaks from the last week revealed that the latest teaser for Avengers: Doomsday would feature the long-awaited mutant team, and now that footage is officially online!
The latest follows the theme of legacy, fathers and their children, which has been a part of each teaser thus far. We see Patrick Stewart, back as Charles Xavier in his flightsuit, playing chess with his old pal Magneto, played by a returning Ian McKellen. The Xavier Institute is dark, quiet, and ominous. And then, finally, James Marsden’s Cyclops unleashes a massive optic blast. He wouldn’t do something like that unless it was an absolute last resort, a desperate final act. Oooh boy.
If Xavier is the father of the X-Men, then Cyclops is undoubtedly the son. I guess that makes Magneto the black sheep uncle?
Steve Rogers and Thor, each protecting their young children, were seen in previous trailers. There will be one more, likely released in the next couple of weeks. It’ll probably be leaked before that.
The Russo Brothers are back to direct Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18th, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17th, 2027.
