After taking five years away from acting, Matthew McConaughey is keeping himself plenty busy. Already this year he’s had two films, The Lost Bus and the still-unreleased The Rivals Of Amziah King, and now Deadline reports he’s added romantic caper film Positano alongside Zoe Saldana.
McConaughey and Saldana, the latter due to be seen in Avatar: Fire and Ash this weekend, will star in Positano for director Daniel Roher. Roher earned strong reviews for his most recent project, Tuner, which had its world premiere at Telluride earlier this year. His big breakthrough was with 2022’s Navalny, which won Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards.
Details on Positano are a bit slim. The film is written by Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood, and is set in the titular Italian town.
Netflix quickly got aboard with plans to fast track the film into production. It’s a reunion between Saldana and Netflix after her acclaimed performance in Emilia Perez which won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
