Box Office: ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s 2’ Serves Up Scary Good $63M Debut

  1. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (review)- $63M

Despite reviews that were in the toilet, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 opened with a scary good $63M domestically. That’s still below the $80M of its predecessor two years ago, which also debuted for free on Peacock. That said, it was still more than enough to surpass two powerful holdovers in Zootopia 2 and Wicked: For Good. The horror sequel, based on the hit video game franchise, returned all of the original cast but that doesn’t seem to have helped matters critically. Currently, the film sits at a woeful 12% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, while audiences were more generous at 88%. Worldwide, the film has $109M and has a ways to go to match or surpass the original’s $297M haul.

2. Zootopia 2– $43M/$220.4M

Disney’s Zootopia 2 dropped out of first place in its second week, with a 57% skid amounting to $43M and $220M domestic. But with $695M overseas and a global haul of $915M, I don’t think anyone is complaining.

3. Wicked: For Good– $16.7M/$296.9M

4. Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution– $10.1M

5. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t– $3.5M/$55.3M

6. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair– $3.25M

Lionsgate released the long-awaited director’s cut of Quentin Tarantino’s revenge epic, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. The 281-minute cut of the Uma Thurman-led flick earned a solid $3.25M at 1,198 theaters. Of course, the long runtime limits the number of showtimes, but for the die-hards, like myself, that didn’t matter. I’ve seen it twice this week already and will likely go for a third if I can.

7. Eternity– $2.7M/$9.5M

8. Hamnet– $2.3M/$4.1M

9. Dhurandhar– $1.9M

10. Predator: Badlands– $1.8M/$88.2M
