‘Resident Evil’: Paul Walter Hauser Joins Zach Cregger’s Horror Reboot With Austin Abrams

Paul Walter Hauser is having one Hell of a moment. Between playing Mole Man in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, plus roles in The Naked Gun, Americana, and Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, not to mention his recent wrestling match against QT Marshall for Ring of Honor, he’s just everywhere. And the Emmy award winner has landed a role in the upcoming Resident Evil reboot from red-hot Weapons director Zach Cregger.

Deadline reports Hauser is joining Austin Abrams in Cregger’s Resident Evil movie for Sony Pictures, based on the hit Capcom horror video game franchise. Cregger co-wrote the screenplay with Army of the Dead writer Shay Hatten.

It’s expected that Cregger’s vision will stick closer to the games than the previous series of movies starring Milla Jojovich. Then again, Cregger says he never watched those movies, so who knows? He’ll be working alongside one of Ridley Scott’s favorite cinematographers, Darius Wolski.

Cregger’s Resident Evil will hit theaters on September 18th 2026.
