‘Materialists’ Trailer: Celine Song’s Matchmaker Romance Stars Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, And Chris Evans

Is love ever truly meant to be? Are two people destined to be together or can a perfect stranger come along and mess up the formula? Celine Song follows up her critically acclaimed Past Lives with the matchmaker romance Materialists, which offers another intriguing love triangle to be explored.

Starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, the A24 film follows a New York City matchmaker torn between two men: one a perfect fantasy, the other her imperfect ex. Song once again writes, produces, and directs the film, and tackles this idea of the past and the present colliding when it comes to matters of the heart. It’s a theme that Song clearly feels close to, but Materialists still looks like a very different movie than Past Lives.

Also in the cast are Zoë Winters, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Marin Ireland. Song reunites with Past Lives cinematographer Shabier Kirchner, along with editor Keith Fraase, and costume designer Katina Danabassis. Why mess with a good thing that led to a pair of Oscar nominations?

SYNOPSIS: A young, ambitious New York City matchmaker finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex.

A24 will release Materialists in theaters on June 13th.
