‘Masters Of The Universe’: Jared Leto Lands Skeletor Role And Should We Be Worried About That?

I’m going to say the same thing I always say when it comes to Jared Leto. He has a disturbing knack to make seemingly good things a Hell of a lot worse. He fucked up the Joker, he fucked up Morbius, he was laughable in both Blade Runner 2049 and House of Gucci. All of these films had Leto essentially doing his own thing that ran against the grain of what the roles called for. And he might be about to do it again in Amazon MGM’s live-action Masters of the Universe as Skeletor.

THR reports Leto has landed the role of the villainous Skeletor in Masters of the Universe. Leto was rumored to have been offered the part back in September. The infamous Mattel baddie is known for making He-Man’s life miserable, as well as everyone on the planet Eternia, for that matter. Leto joins a cast led by Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man/Prince Adam, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, and Hafthor Bjornsson as Tri-Clops.

Directed by Travis Knight and penned by Chris Butler, the film centers on He-Man as he must recover his lost Power Sword and defend Eternia from Skeletor’s evil.

Masters of the Universe opens in theaters on June 25th 2026. Next up for Leto is Tron: Ares in October 2025 and I wouldn’t bet on it being great. Hopefully my mind will be changed.
