The Daisy Ridley action-thriller Cleaner has found a home. Quiver Distribution has picked up the new film from Goldeneye and Casino Royale director Martin Campbell. They’ve it to hit theaters next year on February 21st. With the news, Quiver has revealed a new image of Ridley, sporting a very different look than in her most recent film, Magpie.
Cleaner has a script by Simon Uttley, and co-stars Clive Owen and One Piece actor Taz Skylar.
Here’s the synopsis: Cleaner is set in present-day London. A group of radical activists, led by Clive Owen, take over an energy company’s annual gala, seizing 300 hostages in order to expose the corruption of the hosts. Their just cause is hijacked by an extremist within their ranks, who is ready to murder everyone in the building to send his anarchic message to the world. It falls to an ex-soldier turned window cleaner, played by Daisy Ridley, suspended 50 stories up on the outside of the building, to save those trapped inside.
Following Cleaner, Ridley and Campbell are set to reteam for Dedication, in which she again plays a military officer who must save others from a terrorist threat.
Campbell said in a statement: “Cleaner is a nail-biting thriller, unique and original in both its characters and its setting. Much of the film takes place on the side of One Canada Square – hundreds of feet up in the air – and I want the audience to be up there with Joey in a stomach churning, vertiginous experience.”
