During my interview with Jesse Eisenberg for A Real Pain, he mentioned that his next movie would be a musical that he’d be directing. I probably could’ve pushed him further on it, especially since now we have news on who will be starring in it. Deadline reports Oscar winner Julianne Moore and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti have joined Eisenberg’s untitled musical comedy.
Directed by Eisenberg from his screenplay, the film centers on the high-stakes world of community theater and a shy woman who is unexpectedly cast in a local production of an original musical, and falls under the sway of its strong-willed director.
Eisenberg will also contribute original music, adding yet another feather in his cap.
The film reunites Eisenberg with Moore, who starred in his directorial debut When You Finish Saving the World. Also aboard are Emma Stone and Dave McCrary as producers, just as they were for A Real Pain. The Zombieland love continues.
Coming up next for Moore is starring with Tilda Swinton in The Room Next Door, Pedro Almodovar’s movie premiering on December 20th. Giamatti will be keeping busy with a role in Downton Abbey 3, plus a role in Eli Roth’s Hostel TV series. Seriously, that’s a real thing.
