‘Paper Tiger’: James Gray’s Crime Drama Will Star Adam Driver, Jeremy Strong, And Anne Hathaway

Two years after his critically acclaimed Armageddon Time, James Gray is coming back with another star-studded project that resembles the gritty crime dramas of his early career. Gray will write and direct Paper Tiger, which will star Oscar nominee Adam Driver, Emmy Jeremy Strong, and Oscar winner Anne Hathaway.

Paper Tiger sounds like it’ll be in the same vein as early Gray films such as We Own the Night and Little Odessa. The story follows “two brothers who pursue the American Dream—only to become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true. As they try to navigate their way through an ever-more dangerous world of corruption and violence, they find themselves and their family brutally terrorized by the Russian “Mafiya.” Their bond begins to fray, and betrayal—once utterly unthinkable—now becomes all too possible.”

Gray will direct based on his original story. Expect this one to be a popular package on film market considering Gray’s resume and the star power he’s bringing to the table.

Paper Tiger will be a reunion between Gray, Strong, and Hathaway who all worked together on Armageddon Time. Strong is currently being seen in the Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice, and he’s currently shooting Scott Cooper’s Bruce Springsteen drama Deliver Me from Nowhere. Hathaway has David Lowery’s Mother Mary coming up. Driver is currently shooting a reunion with Jim Jarmusch for Father, Mother, Sister, Brother. [Deadline]
