The release of Star Wars: The Acolyte didn’t go as planned for Lucasfilm, but there’s still hope that 2024 can be salvaged. Coming up in December is the next series, Skeleton Crew, an adventure story geared toward and featuring kids. There’s been a Spielberg-esque vibe to everything we’ve seen thus far, but the latest trailer has so many of the filmmaker’s Amblin hallmarks it’s a wonder he’s not an exec-producer or something.
You can find elements of Stand By Me, The Goonies, Explorers, and more in the new Skeleton Crew trailer. The story follows four kids who make an extraordinary discovery that gets them lost in the galaxy, encountering dangerous enemies, unlikely allies, and a potential Jedi, Jod Na Nawood, played by Jude Law.
The series stars Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost. Skeleton Crew was created by Jon Watts, known for the film Wolves and the Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland. Watts directs episodes of the series, joined by David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew hits Disney+ on December 3rd. We’ll see if it gets a longer stay than The Acolyte did. Fingers crossed!
