‘Day Drinker’: Johnny Depp And Penelope Cruz Reunite For Marc Webb’s Action-Thriller

Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz have quite a long history of working together, having starred in three movies over the years. But they’re far from done, as THR reports the duo will reunite for Day Drinker, a new thriller from Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb.

The action-thriller Day Drinker kicks off when “a cruise ship bartender meets a mysterious day drinker—only for both of them to find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways.”

Depp and Cruz have signed on to star in the film that Webb will direct from a script by The Tomorrow War and Fast X writer Zach Dean. Webb is best known for directing two Amazing Spider-Man movies starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, as well as (500) Days of Summer. His next film, Snow White, stars Rachel Zegler and opens in March 2025.

For Depp, this is the biggest comeback attempt yet since his controversies with Amber Heard. Depp had become box office poison over the years but perhaps enough time has passed now. Pairing him up with Cruz, who he worked with previously on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Blow, and Murder On the Orient Express, couldn’t hurt.
