In the movies, kids will go to extraordinary lengths to keep their parents together. But have they ever gone back in time to prevent a divorce? Well, that’s what Greg Kinnear and Isla Fisher experience in The Present, a family film mixed with time travel adventure for kids.
Kinnear and Fisher play separated parents whose kids discover a magical family heirloom allowing them to go back in time to try and save their family. But as we see in the new trailer, things are going to get very complicated. There will be a lot of traveling back-and-forth across time, a lot of sibling bonding, as they attempt to complete the mission.
Shay Rudolph (The Baby-Sitters Club), Mason Shea Joyce (Good Girls), and Easton Rocket Sweda (General Hospital) play the time-traveling children, while Ryan Guzman (9-1-1) also has a role.
The film is directed by Christian Ditter (How to be Single) from a script by Jay Martel.
Here’s the synopsis: When a brilliant boy discovers he can manipulate time using an enchanted family heirloom, he and his siblings team up to go back to the eve of their parents’ separation in hopes of changing the outcome. As their schemes become more elaborate, the siblings will learn about family bonds and what they can and can’t control. In this magical comedy, Fisher and Kinnear are the parents in search of reconciliation, and Sweda, Rudolph and Joyce are the siblings who just might be the only people who can make that happen.
The Present opens on June 18th.
