James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy is set to be the launching point of the new DCU, breaking away for good from the Zack Snyder era and the DCEU. With that comes all-new casting for the Kryptonian’s upcoming movie, with David Corenswet recently cast as Clark Kent/Kal-El and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. But now we’re learning that one of Gunn’s reliable pals is joining, too, along with two other fellow Marvel alums as prominent DC characters.
According to Vanity Fair, Nathan Fillion has snagged a role in Superman: Legacy as Guy Gardner, the brash Green Lantern Corps member who famously got punched by Batman. He’s also my favorite GL of all-time so this has me pretty pumped. Also joining the cast are Sicario 2 and Madame Web actress Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and X-Men: First Class actor Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Those last two are key members of the Justice Society of America, most recently seen in the Black Adam movie.
Gunn took to Twitter and confirmed the news himself, as he’s wont to do.
True. Welcome to the cast of Superman: Legacy: @NathanFillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, @isabelamerced as Hawkgirl, and @iamedigathegi as Mister Terrific. ❤️?? https://t.co/Z9JLq3jUxL
