‘Superman: Legacy’ Adds ‘Barry’ Breakout Anthony Carrigan As Metamorpho

And the Superman: Legacy casting is really ramping up. Following yesterday’s additions of Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Edi Gathegi as major DC Comics heroes, today comes word from THR that Barry breakout Anthony Carrigan has also landed a role as a prominent superhero: Metamorpho.

Carrigan, who emerged as a scene-stealer playing Noho Hank in HBO series Barry, will take on the role of Rex Mason aka Metamorpho, a Justice League member and founder of The Outsiders. Metamorpho has the power to shapeshift and change his body into any element, taking on its properties.

With Carrigan aboard, James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy boasts a cast led by David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner.

Gunn has taken to Twitter to confirm Carrigan’s casting, so this is for real.

Superman: Legacy opens July 11th 2025.
