When Lucasfilm decided to steer away from features and focus on Star Wars television shows on Disney+, many saw it as a sign of weakness in the franchise. Perhaps it was at the time, but now it can only be seen as the best thing that could’ve happened because those shows have reinvigorated fans’ passion. And a big part of the reason is being able to see some of their favorite Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels characters in live-action, as they will when Rosario Dawson stars in Ahsoka.
Fresh out of Star Wars Celebration is a new teaser trailer and poster for Ahsoka, and you can practically feel creator Dave Filoni’s hands all over it. Not only do we see a lot more of Dawson as Ahsoka, but also the characters Filoni introduced in Star Wars Rebels. That would include Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, the evil Grand Master Thrawn, and I’m pretty sure we get a brief, holographic glimpse of Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.
There’s plenty of action in this brief footage, as well, including Ahsoka in a lightsaber battle with Baylan, a Dark Side enemy played by Ray Stevenson.
Ahsoka is set to hit Disney+ this August.
