‘The Big Door Prize’ Interview: Chris O’Dowd And Gabrielle Dennis Felt Normal Going Through Existential Crisis

In Apple TV’s latest series, people’s fates are in the hand of a mysterious machine that can tell one’s true potential. Soon a little town is shaken up by their fortunes, leading one man on a mission to discover his purpose – both in the world and within his family. The Big Door Prize is created by Schitt’s Creek’s David West Read and based on the book by M.O. Walsh.

Playing the couple at the heart of the story is grounded leading man Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, The Incredible Jessica James) and A Black Lady Sketch Show’s Gabrielle Dennis. As Dusty and Cass respectively, the two comedians blend humor with relatable vulnerability as two people terrified of the personal changes in their own lives.

I sat down with the two to discuss playing these two characters and what it was like working together on The Big Door Prize. The series is available now on Apple TV+.
