Crazy to think this all started with a dead dog, yet here we are on the precipice of the release of the fourth film in the biggest action film franchise of the last 20 years. I’m sure I’m missing a few but really what other action hero franchises have their been which aren’t reboots, adaptations (Transformers, etc), or ensembles (The Fast & The Furious)….xXx maybe? No, for all points that matter it’s just John Wick and the final trailer for John Wick: Chapter 4 paints a beautiful picture of why this character and his franchise have risen above the rest.
From the opening shot of the 1min 30sec clip it becomes apparent what sets this series apart, and like any good sequel the volume has been turned to 11 on everything you’re buying a ticket to see. Yes, Keanu is cool, and yes alot of things go boom but, if you ask me, it’s the choreography that really does it. The gunfights are fluid, almost like watching a brutal dance. Really that applies to all of the fights, gun, knife, axe, sword, they’ve taken their time and made it something special instead of simply upping the body count and explosion size.
If you need any more motivation, John Wick: Chapter 4 has added something that every iconic action franchise should include in good measure and that’s Donnie Yen. I can NOT wait to see how well this flick delivers on its promises.
