‘Nosferatu’: Willem Dafoe Reteams With Robert Eggers For Upcoming Vampire Film

Robert Eggers is adding some familiar, and I think quite appropriate, talent to his upcoming Nosferatu film. Deadline reports that Willem Dafoe, who starred in Eggers’ The Lighthouse as well as last year’s The Northman, is in talks for a role.

Dafoe joins a cast that will be led by Bill Skarsgard as the iconic silent movie vampire, joined by Lily-Rose Depp, and Nicholas Hoult. The film is a reimagined version of the classic 1922 Nosferatu directed by F.W. Murnau.

What’s interesting is that Dafoe earned an Oscar nomination for playing an exaggerated version of Nosferatu actor Max Schreck, who is believed to be a real vampire feeding on his cast, in 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire. So while Dafoe won’t be playing the character for Eggers, would it be a shock if he’s still a bit bloodthirsty?
