It’s turning out to be a huge week for The Bear breakout star Ayo Edebiri. Not only was she at Sundance for the world premiere of thespian comedy Theater Camp, which went on to sell for a huge $8M. But now Edebiri is poised for her biggest project yet, as Variety reports she has joined the cast of Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie.
Details on Edebiri’s role are, of course, under wraps, but she joins an impressive and stacked cast. Julia Louis-Dreyfus returns as team leader Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, with Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. The team of “reformed” baddies are poised to play a major role in the MCU going forward, as they are all adjacent to many different heroes.
The film will be directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns) from a script by Black Widow writer Eric Pearson.
Coming up for Edebiri are The Bear‘s second season on FX, and the Prime Video comedy Bottoms from Shiva Baby director Emma Seligman. Thunderbolts begins shooting in June.
