‘Wednesday’: Jenna Ortega Faces Off Against Thing In Official Clip

We may not know when Tim Burton’s Wednesday is heading to Netflix, but today’s Tudum fan event did deliver a new look at the series. In a new clip, the titular Addam’s daughter is moving her items into her dorm room when she hears a mysterious sound.

In a face off, Wednesday realizes that her parents (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán) sent their handy servant, Thing, to spy on her. Thinking on her toes and giving a pretty twisted ultimatum, she eventually gets Thing to pledge its loyalty to her.

This clip comes after Netflix released a “commercial” for Wednesday’s current school, Nevermore Academy. In it, Gwendoline Christie appeals to the “outcasts” to come to her school. Christina Ricci, who played Ortega’s character in The Addams Family and worked with Burton on Sleepy Hollow, will play an undisclosed role in the series.

The official synopsis for the show reads as follows:

A coming-of-age supernatural mystery comedy focusing on Wednesday Addams and her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago—all while navigating her new relationships.

You can watch the first clip from the series below. Wednesday will premiere on Netflix sometime this fall.
