It all comes down to this. The new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues the complete breakdown of the fabric of reality, caused by meddling seen in WandaVision, Loki, and most recently Spider-Man: No Way Home. And at the center of it all is Doctor Strange, who is either going to fix it all or pay for his part in making it happen.
The latest trailer goes a lot further in explaining the plot than the teaser following No Way Home did. At some point, Strange is going to be held accountable for his prior actions, as we see him being led away in handcuffs to a mysterious figure who says “we should tell him the truth.” Who is this? We also see plenty of Wong, whose rise to prominence in the MCU makes me very happy; we see Rachel McAdams who returns as Christine Palmer, and it kinda looks like she’s leaving a wedding(?); and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo who stands opposed to Strange. Also seen are Xochitl Gomez as the time-kicking America Chavez, and Elizabeth Olson as Wanda Maximoff, whose overwhelming power is clearly a danger.
Oh, and there’s that evil version of Doctor Strange again, although he may not be the big baddie when all is said and done.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is directed by Sam Raimi and opens May 6th.
