Kristen Wiig Joins With Laura Dern For Apple’s 1970s Comedy Series ‘Mrs. American Pie’

Kristen Wiig is one of the funniest women in the world, and can basically do anything that she wants. After starring in the hilarious Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, a film some think has been unfairly overlooked this awards season, she is headed to the small screen for Apple TV+ series, Mrs. American Pie.

Variety reports Wiig will star in the 10-episode comedy series Mrs. American Pie, and she’ll be joined by Laura Dern who will produce and likely have a role, as well. The show is set in the 1970s and follows a woman who tries to make it in the high society of Palm Beach.

Abe Sylvia (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) will adapt the novel by Juliet McDaniel and act as showrunner. Tate Taylor (The Help, Ava) will direct episodes.

Here’s the series synopsis: “Set in the early ’70s, “Mrs. American Pie” follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) as she attempts to secure her place within the high society of Palm Beach. As she navigates the line between the haves and the have-nots, the series focuses on questions of who gets a seat at the table and what people will sacrifice to get there.”
