Another movie about the complications and awkwardness of adult relationships? Who needs it? Untogether may sound like just another tired entry in a familiar genre, but when the cast includes Lola Kirke, Jemima Kirke, Jamie Dornan, Billy Crystal, Ben Mendelsohn, Alice Eve, and Scott Caan, something more is clearly going on here.
Written and directed by Emma Forrest (the author and subject of Your Voice In My Head) in her directorial debut, the film stars the real-life Kirke sisters as siblings whose love lives are in very different places. One has just had a one-night-stand with a famous doctor, while the other is in a long-term relationship with an older man. Complications ensue.
The film debuted at Tribeca and while I don’t remember hearing a ton about it, there’s clearly a ton of potential in the casting. Untogether hits theaters and VOD on February 8th.
