Gina Carano Says She Learned Of Her Firing Through Social Media

Gina Carano. I know we like to say she got fired from Lucasfilm last week for her comments last week comparing the social media criticism she receives as a “conservative” to the persecution of Jews by the Nazis.  It’s too stupid to dignify much further. In truth, she wasn’t fired, just her option to return wasn’t picked up. It’s called an “option” for a reason. And Carano has since bounced back, sorta, by becoming a conservative media darling and setting up a new movie with The Daily Wire.

As part of becoming the far-right’s new media darling, Carano did a wholly misleading interview with conservative figure Bari Weiss, in an attempt to frame her as a victim of cancel culture or “crowd-sourced McCarthyism”. She’s not. Carano admits she was asked to issue an apology for her numerous transphobic comments on social media, but she refused.

“Earlier on last year before ‘The Mandalorian’ came out, they wanted me to use their exact wording for an apology over pronoun usage. I declined and offered a statement in my own words. I made clear I wanted nothing to do with mocking the transgender community, and was just drawing attention to the abuse of the mob in forcing people to put pronouns in their bio.”

Carano isn’t being completely honest here. While her initial comments were about people asking her to put pronouns in her bio, Carano took it a step further by saying “I’m not against trans lives at all. They need to find less abusive representation.”

Well, that shit ain’t really up to her, and there’s nothing wrong for a group of people asking to be properly addressed.   It’s also wildly hypocritical for her to accuse others of being abusive when she’s a Donald Trump supporter. Fuck outta here.

Continuing to whine, Carano said her months of transphobic, anti-mask, conspiracy theorist comments had led to her being excluded from any and all press for The Mandalorian, which anybody who watched Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian knows is a lie. She also said she learned about the firing on social media like everybody else.

“That was heartbreaking [being excluded from press], but I didn’t want to take away from the hard work of everyone who worked on the project, so I said, ‘ok.’ That was the last time I was contacted about any type of public statement or apology from Lucasfilm. I found out through social media, like everyone else, that I had been fired.”

I find this hard to believe, and given the Qanon-level lies Carano has been spreading, why should anybody take her word for anything?

The best part about this to me is that Carano thinks hanging out with Ben Shapiro and The Daily Wire is a decent substitute for having her own Star Wars series. Yeah. You keep thinking that. The total number of people who see ANY movie coming from that bunch of snowflakes doesn’t measure up to five minutes of anything Star Wars. At this rate she’ll a laughingstock like Kevin Sorbo or Scott Baio, and to me, that’s extremely sad.
