A Sundance Award winner with his previous two films, This is Martin Bonner and 2016’s Morris from America (which I absolutely loved), Chad Hartigan returns with a film that appears to be inspired by the global pandemic. Little Fish, which stars Olivia Cooke and Jack O’Connell, was shot last year so any similarity is a coincidence that could draw more attention than it would have under normal circumstances.
As seen in the trailer for Little Fish, Cooke and O’Connell play a couple living during a pandemic from a disease called NIA. Their relationship is tested when he appears to have contracted the illness which erases all memories, including those of the people you love.
While Cooke, O’Connell, and Hartigan are reason to take notice of this film, another is that it’s written by Mattson Tomlin, the guy behind Project Power and a little thing called The Batman. All eyes are on him lately and everything he does.
Little Fish hits theaters and VOD on February 21st 2021.
SYNOPSIS: LITTLE FISH chronicles the all too familiar phenomena of a global pandemic, sweeping the world without control. Pointedly, the film asks “When your disaster is everyone’s disaster, how do you grieve?” As the sickness, which causes you to slowly lose all your memories, runs rampant, the viewer follows an incredibly charming young married couple, played masterfully by Olivia Cooke and Jack O’Connell. They fight to hold their relationship together before the disease can erase all memory of their love.
