How much is too much? Anybody who has followed Zack Snyder in the years since Justice League knows he has about a billion things that he’s said were going to be in his cut. Well, now that he’s actually able to make the movie he always wanted, he’s putting all of it back in there. And that now includes the return of Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke.
Collider says Zack Snyder’s Justice League will include Deathstroke, the ultra-assassin teased at the end of the Whedon cut of the film. Manganiello will don the eyepatch and wield the sword of the killer known as “The Terminator” for a reason, although it’s unclear how he could possibly fit into the story.
We already know that Jared Leto will be coming back as Joker, and that reshoots are taking place with Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard, and now Manganiello. What the return of Manganiello as Deathstroke tells us that we’re getting a story that will be much larger than what we saw before. That was already known, to a certain extent, but what other reason is there to bring this particular character back unless it’s to give him more to do?
Perhaps if Deathstroke catches on we’ll see a revival of the solo film he was going to get with director Gareth Evans? While Evans is unlikely to return for it, Manganiello would almost certainly be down.
