The more we see of Verity, the more twisted it looks. I’ve had it said on good authority that this is the wildest, most intense of Colleen Hoover’s novels, which may explain why this adaptation has the most buzz since It Ends With Us. Amazon MGM Studios certainly knows what it has on its hands. Hoover films have so far earned over $500M already, and there’s every reason to think this one will be a hit, as well.
Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett, and Dakota Johnson lead Verity, a psychosexual thriller about a struggling writer offered a dream gig, helping to complete the latest novel by writer Verity Crawford as she is unable following a mysterious accident. However, this assignment spirals into lies, obsession, and secrets when she discovers a hidden manuscript with disturbing revelations about Verity that leave her wondering what’s real and what’s fantasy.
The film is directed by Michael Showalter, known for The Big Sick, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and The Idea of You, also with Hathaway.
Verity hits theaters on October 2nd.
