Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II took a long time to get going, as the screenplay took ages to get just right. Now, it’s taking just as long a time to hit theaters, as the film faces its third delay. A major release date shuffle at Warner Bros. has now moved it from October 1st 2027, to February 18th 2028. The original date was October 3rd 2025.
The Batman hit theaters in March 2022, a six-year gap between movies. Will anyone even care after such a long stretch? I’m exaggerating; obviously people will care. It will also benefit from a lucrative 4-day Presidents’ Day weekend.
Production is expected to begin this month. It was supposed to have begun in 2024, and again in 2025.
Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman, joined by Scarlett Johansson, Andy Serkis, Barry Keoghan, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch.
