‘Nasty’: Rose Byrne Reteams With ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ Director For New Film With Jenna Ortega

Just months after earning her first Best Actress Oscar nomination for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Rose Byrne is reteaming with that film’s director, Mary Bronstein. Deadline reports Byrne will star in Nasty, alongside Jenna Ortega, for Bronstein, Warner Bros. Clockwork, and Margot Robbie’s LuckChap.

According to the report, Nasty follows “a prodigious athlete who is battling for a spot on the Olympics gymnastics team. However, she must overcome her biggest opponent: Her coach.”

Isabella Jarosz’s screenplay was on the 2024 Black List of best unproduced screenplays.

The film marks the latest major acquisition for Warner Bros. Clockwork, the studio’s indie label. Sean Baker’s Ti Amo! is the label’s first, and Park Chan-wook’s Brigands of Rattlecreek is there, too.

Byrne will be seen next in the Peacock series, The Good Daughter. She most recently starred in the underdog legal drama, Tow.

Ortega is an Emmy nominee for her leading role in Netflix series, Wednesday. She’ll be seen next in Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun, and JJ Abrams’ The Great Beyond which just got moved to 2027.
