The thing about Jumanji is, just because you’re done with the game, it doesn’t mean the game is done with you. Following the original 1995 film, 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan are back for Jumanji: Open World, the final film in the latest trilogy that finds the game breaking out into the real world.
Jake Kasdan is back behind the camera after directing the previous two films. Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, and Ser’Darius Blain also return, although they aren’t teenagers anymore. Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, Bebe Neuwirth, and Rhys Darby are also back for more, joined by newcomers Brittany O’Grady, Burn Gorman, Lamorne Morris, and Nasim Pedrad.
In a way, it’s surprising that Sony would let this franchise come to an end. The three movies, four if you include the 2005 spinoff Zathura: A Space Adventure, have earned over $2B worldwide. Don’t be surprised if they find a way to keep it going if this film proves to be a smash hit, too.

Our heroes have escaped the perilous jungles of Jumanji before, but this time Jumanji breaks free of its console, unleashing its chaos into our world.
Jumanji: Open World hits theaters on Christmas Day.
