Will Ferrell Is Trying To Make A Movie With Adam Sandler Finally

It’s crazy to think that, somehow, Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler have never done a movie together. How is that even possible, with all of the comedies they’ve done that are pretty similar in style and tone? Their career trajectories run parallel, as well; both getting their big breaks on SNL and finding greater success after leaving. Ferrell spoke with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and revealed that he and Sandler have been trying to make a movie happen.

“It’s funny, too, because Sandler and I have texted. We’ve been kind of circling, trying to—Sandler, bless his heart, has been like, ‘Come on, buddy. We got to figure something out before we can’t move anymore’…I know. That’s on my bucket list.”

Not only that, but Ferrell has been chatting with Ben Stiller, who he did a pair of Zoolander movies with, about doing something in the future, too…

“And Ben reached out within the last couple years, as he’s wanting to get a little bit more back into acting and doing comedy and stuff.”

Stiller has a small role in the Apple TV comedy, The Dink, that is streaming now, so it seems Ferrell is right about him wanting to get back in front of the camera. Stiller also has Focker-In-Law hitting theaters in November.

So what’s keeping all of these comedy teamups from happening, anyway? Timing. Ferrell, Sandler, and Stiller are all extremely busy with other projects…

“It’s just, you know, it’s hard in that, if you’re thinking of other ideas, as time keeps moving on and everyone has their own little universes…You would think it’d be an easy thing, and I don’t know why it isn’t. We’re all just kind of like ships passing in the night, and then it’s not till you’re way far away from each other, like, ‘Wait, how have we not done a thing?’”

Coming up for Ferrell is a reunion with his Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling for Tough Guys. He had nothing but high praise for Gosling, who he thinks should’ve won the Oscar for his role as Ken.

“He’s such an underrated—maybe not anymore—but, as a comedic personality, he’s a beast…That performance in ‘Barbie’—talk about commitment and just epic.”

Right now, Ferrell can be seen in the Netflix gold comedy series, The Hawk. Hey, Happy Gilmore 2 is there, too…how about a crossover?
