Caves are just naturally scary. Sharp, rocky edges, intense darkness, creatures lurking that you’ll never see until it’s too late. It’s why we genre fans still to this day talk about The Descent as one of the great thrillers ever. The Devil’s Mouth seems to be tapping into the same claustrophobic energy, as seen in the new trailer released today by Prime Video.
A hot, young cast led by Kathryn Newton, Lana Condor, Gavin Casalegno, Nico Hiraga, Tayme Thapthimthong, and Tommi Rose star in The Devil’s Mouth, which hits Prime Video globally on July 29th.
The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow, who, as I always say, directed one of my favorite horrors most people have forgotten, Cry Wolf. He also directed Kick-Ass 2, Prey, Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island, and Imaginary. The guy has plenty of experience in this genre, I’m just sayin’.
Written by Aja Gabel and Myung Joh Wesner, the story follows a group of friends who have one final blowout vacation in Thailand before entering the real world of adulting. They sign up for a guided swim through a remote cave system, only to become trapped inside with a deadly shark that is on the hunt.
