‘Man On Fire’ Teaser: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Goes On The Warpath In Netflix’s Action-Packed Series Remake

One of the most exciting TV projects for 2026 is Netflix’s series remake of the Denzel Washington kidnapping thriller, Man on Fire. Denzel’s role as tough-as-nails special forces soldier turned bodyguard John Creasy has been taken over by Watchmen and Wonder Man star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and based on the new teaser, he’s more than capable of filling those gigantic shoes.

Created by Kyle Killen (Awake, Lone Star), Man on Fire stars Abdul-Mateen II alongside Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor. The plot remains largely the same as A.J. Quinnell’s book, the 1987 adaptation starring Scott Glenn, and Tony Scott’s 2004 movie, except that the action has moved to Brazil.

SYNOPSIS: Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, “Man on Fire” tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.

Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) directs the first two episodes.

Man on Fire hits Netflix on April 30th for a 7-episode run.
