‘Skeletons’: Brie Larson To Star In Creature Feature From ‘Strange Darling’ Director JT Mollner

Brie Larson hasn’t been seen on the big screen since The Marvels in 2023, and who can blame her? That film was unfairly bashed and ended up one of the lowest-grossing Marvel films. She probably took some time off. Well, now she’s coming back in the latest film from red-hot Strange Darling director, JT Mollner. It’s called Skeletons, a monster flick from producer JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot label.

Skeletons should be next up for Mollner, who you may recall also has a Texas Chainsaw Massacre series on the way with A24 and Glen Powell.

Originally titled Fail-Safe, the film is an adaptation of Philip Fracassi’s short story, and is a modern take on the creature feature. The story is told from the perspective of a young boy who slowly begins to learn that his parents are hiding a terrible secret about his mom’s true nature. Brian Duffield (Love & Monsters) wrote the screenplay.

Skeletons is being shopped around on the European market right now, where it’s expected to be a hot item. It’s good to see Larson back out there, too, as it’s been a long time without the Oscar winner.
