‘Time Out’: Adam Sandler Replaces Christian Bale In Scott Cooper’s Remake

Okay, that didn’t take long. It was just three days ago that I wrote about Scott Cooper’s remake of the French drama Time Out, reuniting with his pal Christian Bale for the fourth time. Well, scratch that. Bale has reportedly dropped out…and been replaced by Adam Sandler? Say wha???

The report comes from the same source as before, World of Reel, which seems to be on this Time Out beat. It’s easy to see why. The original 2001 film by the late great Laurent Cantet is considered among his best, centering on a man who is fired from his longtime job and hides this fact from his family until his life begins to spiral out of control.

Sandler is an odd choice, at least to me. Both have close ties to Netflix, so that part makes sense. But even with his admittedly strong dramatic work in the past, Sandler is a very different actor from Bale. We’ll see how this goes and if there are any other drastic changes like this one.
