Lenny Abrahamson, the director behind acclaimed films Room and Frank, is back with his first feature since 2018’s The Little Stranger. Abrahamson will reteam with A24 on an untitled period drama exploring the Jewish community of Dublin, Ireland, in the 1970s.
Already, the cast is top-notch. Furiosa actor Tom Burke and Flora & Son star Eve Hewson will lead the film, alongside newcomer Sean Meagher.
Here’s the synopsis: Set within Dublin’s Jewish community in the late 1970s, the film is a lyrical and emotionally resonant portrait of Davey (Meagher), a 12-year-old boy on the edge of change, navigating the anxieties of adolescence alongside the evolving dynamics of his parents’ marriage.
A24 previously worked with Abrahamson on distributing Room, which earned four Oscar nominations including a Best Actress win for Brie Larson. Most recently, Abrahamson has been working in TV on the shows Normal People and Conversations with Friends.
Burke was most recently seen in Steven Soderbergh’s spy film, Black Bag. Hewson has a role in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day, arriving this summer.
