One of the buzziest horror films to emerge from last year’s Fantasia Fest, Undertone is set to make its U.S. premiere at Sundance in a couple of weeks. A lot of eyes are going to be on this slow-burner, as writer/director Ian Tuason is directing the next Paranormal Activity sequel. And based on this new trailer, it’s easy to see why. Good luck figuring out what the Hell is going on.
Combining elements of found footage and demonic possession, Undertone‘s debut was so impressive that it launched a bidding war that A24 won with a seven-figure deal.
Nina Kiri leads the cast as the skeptic host of a paranormal podcast, only to face the unexplainable when she returns home to care for her dying mother.
Also in the cast are Kris Holden-Ried, Michèle Duquet, Keana Lyn Bastidas, Jeff Yung, Sarah Beaudin, and Brian Quintero.
SYNOPSIS: A podcast host covering spooky content moves in to care for her dying mother. When sent recordings of a pregnant couple’s paranormal encounters, she discovers their story parallels hers, each tape pushing her toward madness.
Undertone hits theaters on March 13th.
