Break-ups are tough, but they are especially hard on the children. Oh, and pets have it rough, too, having to choose between two masters they love equally. The new heartwarming holiday comedy Merv centers on the titular canine, who slips into a depression when his owners, played by Zooey Deschanel and Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox, split up and they must find a way for him to get his doggy groove back.
Merv is directed by Jessica Swale (Summerland) from a script by married filmmaking duo Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart (Suze). Also in the cast are Chris Redd, Patricia Heaton, David Hunt, and Joey Slotnick.
SYNOPSIS: When their beloved dog Merv loses his spark after their split, Anna (Zooey Deschanel) and Russ (Charlie Cox) are forced into the world’s most awkward co-parenting arrangement. Hoping to shake Merv out of his funk, Russ takes him to Florida for a much-needed getaway—only for Anna to show up unexpectedly. As Merv slowly gets his groove back, it turns out fixing their dog’s broken heart may lead to a few sparks of their own.
Amazon MGM Studios will release Merv to Prime Video on December 10th.
