In the thirty years (!!!) we’ve known Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the Toy Story gang, we’ve seen them face the threat of being forgotten, of becoming obsolete. But that worry takes new shape in the first teaser for Toy Story 5, which finds them facing the advancement of technology in the form of Lilypad, a frog-shaped high-tech smart tablet voiced by Past Lives breakout Greta Lee.
As seen in the brief footage, the arrival of Lilypad has occupied all of Bonnie’s attention, making life miserable for the other toys. Is the age of toys truly over?
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as the voices of Woody and Buzz Lightyear, with Joan Cusack as Jessie, and Conan O’Brien as a new character, Smarty Pants.
The film is directed by Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton, who previously worked on Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, and Wall-E. A Hell of a track record. He also directed John Carter, but we won’t talk about that. Stanton is joined by co-director Kenna Harris.
Toy Story 5 hits theaters on June 19th 2026.
