Following the world premiere here at TIFF just a couple of days ago, Netflix has dropped the teaser trailer for the third Knives Out movie from Rian Johnson, Wake Up Dead Man. The event was attended by Johnson and the entire cast, along with scores of fans eager to watch Benoit Blanc solve his deadliest, and I would say most personal, case yet.
Daniel Craig returns as Benoit Blanc, the erstwhile detective who finds himself brought into a murder mystery involving the death of a firebrand priest played by Josh Brolin. The suspect list is an A-list affair and includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
The beauty of Knives Out is how each film is so different from the rest. After a traditional Agatha Christie-style murder mystery, to the comedy of Glass Onion, Johnson delivers a gothic whodunit with a heavy emphasis on faith. Wake Up Dead Man reveals a side to Blanc that we’ve yet to see. I personally believe it to be the most intricate of the trilogy, and fans are going to love it.
Wake Up Dead Man gets a brief theatrical run on November 26th before moving to Netflix December 12th. You can check out my early review here!
