All eyes are on Jeremy Saulnier after his hit Netflix film, Rebel Ridge, won a Primetime Emmy for Best TV Movie. Coming back to A24 for the first time since Green Room, Saulnier’s next project is the fugitive thriller October, and a trio of new stars have just been added to the cast.
Two of the three names joining October are rising stars, The Iron Claw‘s Stanley Simons, and The Last of Us actor Young Mazino. Veteran actor Stephen Root, of Office Space fame, is also aboard. They join the previously cast Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, and Sophie Wilde.
Mazino was most recently seen in A24’s flop Opus, which opened earlier this year and quickly vanished. Simons has kept a low profile since The Iron Claw, but he was just at TIFF as part of the cast for Mile End Kicks, the Barbie Ferreira romcom that earned solid early reviews.
Details remain slim, with the film described as a “fugitive thriller set around Halloween.” Saulnier wrote the script and will direct with plans to shoot this month. [Deadline]
