‘Shelby Oaks’ Trailer: Freaky Paranormal Horror From YouTuber Chris Stuckmann Arrives In October

If you follow the movie reviews of YouTuber and film critic Chris Stuckmann, chances are you already know about his feature directorial debut, Shelby Oaks. He ran a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $1M for the project. As for the rest of you who don’t know Stuckmann, the small-budgeted found footage horror might be something to take interest in after you see the trailer released today by NEON.

Shelby Oaks features a solid cast of veterans, including Camille Sullivan, Brendan Sexton III, Michael Beach, Robin Bartlett, Keith David, Charlie Talbert, Emily Bennett, and Sarah Durn.

Horror guru Mike Flanagan, of Doctor Sleep and The Life of Chuck fame, is an exec-producer, giving the film some serious cred.

Here’s the synopsis: A woman’s desperate search for her long-lost sister, a famous YouTuber who investigated paranormal happenings, falls into obsession upon realizing that the imaginary demon from their childhood may have been real.

It’s always fascinating when a notable critic puts themselves out there like this. Film critic Mike Sargent did that a couple of years ago with another horror, From the Shadows, that also starred Keith David. And of course, C. Robert Cargill is a critic who has been making movies with Scott Derrickson for over a decade.

NEON will release Shelby Oaks in theaters on October 3rd.
